COMMUNITY-DRIVEN ENGAGEMENT

Pride Appreciation Nights

Wonder Theatre Pride Appreciation Nights celebrate San Antonio’s wonderful diverse community by partnering with a San Antonio area nonprofit or organization that works with the LGBTQIA+ community. For every mainstage musical, Wonder Theatre donates tickets to a featured partner.

ASL Nights (American Sign Language)

The American Sign Language community can attend a special production of every mainstage performance on our ASL Nights. An American Sign Language translator converts the spoken language into sign language for our ASL community. The interpreter is on the right side of the stage, the left side of the house during the show, and the production does not differ in any way. All are invited to attend Wonder Theatre’s ASL Nights.

Nonprofit Partnerships

As a nonprofit, Wonder Theatre engages with fellow San Antonio area nonprofits throughout the year in an effort to draw attention to their mission and needs. We partner with one nonprofit for each of our six productions, per season. During that show’s run, we request and accept donations at the Theatre on their behalf, based on their specific asks. To date, we have partnered with The Children’s Shelter, The San Antonio Food Bank, The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, Martinez Street Women’s Center, SNIPSA, San Antonio Threads, and Hearts Need Art. If your nonprofit would like to partner with Wonder Theatre, please contact jeanette@woodlawntheatre.org.

Visual Arts Initiative

Known for award-winning musical theatre productions, Wonder Theatre is dedicated to incorporating visual arts to increase awareness of San Antonio area visual artists. When patrons visit the Wonder Theatre, they are treated to more than an entertaining musical production. Audience-goers will have the opportunity to view works of art from local artists on a feature gallery in the theatre’s lobby. Every production will feature a new artist during the run of the show. PLEASE NOTE, THE VISUAL ARTS INITIATIVE HAS BEEN PAUSED DUE TO THE PANDEMIC.
